84 Z28 for my 87 LX??
Hey guys, been kind of flooding the forums lately and to top that off I didn't have time to search this topic before this post so sorry bout that.
Anyway a friend of mine wants to trade me straight up for his 84 Z28 for one of my stangs. And I was looking for some unbiased opinions. Problems with my car would be tranny - there was metal in the fluid when I changed it today - and the idle hangs when hot. His car has a slight tick, don't really know where its coming from, and his aod will slip when its in over drive and you get on it Bodies on both cars are in pretty good shape so thats a moot point, just looking for some ideas from you guys |

@ryanw - I have 2, same year (1987) both 'verts, both 5.0's
@black89gt - haha yeah, about the kind of reception to the idea I'd expect on a mustang forum. But as far as plans....your typical, make it fast, make it look good, plans haha. But I'm broke so plans don't really matter right now |

Having owned many 3rd gen camaros before my mustang, I wouldn't trade if I were you, unless you plan on fixing and keeping the other mustang, then maybe for variety's sake. But at the same time you can always sell one of the mustangs to fund mods for the other.

Id say sell both the verts and find a notch or hatch and work on it from there.

lol so general consensus is not to do it. Was kind of leaning that way, I mean maybe if it had a 350 in it but the 305 barely perks my interest so it would pretty much just be a change of scenery.
@Black89GT - yeah that thought has crossed my mind, probably what I'll end up doing, not a huge fan of verts in the first place, just somehow ended up with two of the damn things |

The Mustang is a better car than the 84Z. Don't trade.

Thanks slo, I told him earlier I wasn't interested.
I wouldn't mind looking into selling both and getting into a notch or coup, where else besides craigslist to you guys recommend looking? |

haha sorry dude, brain fart. But yeah pretty much trolled craigslist and was just wondering what alternatives were out there. As far as condition the one I dd right now is in good overall shape. Love tap at some point in its life has left spider cracks in the paint on the bumper small crack on the windshield and thats about it as far as appearance is concerned, besides old paint. Has tranny problems which I'll address when I get the money or account for when I sell. This car is bone ass stock except for having no cats.
My other car, the one that my avatar picture is, was wrecked. About 35mph into a car that failed to yield the right of way and I hit. Cracked front fascia, broken headlight, crumpled hood and driver side fender. Like my other one has tranny problems, the extent of which I'm not sure of yet. It has a few minor mods but motor is stock. Tops on both cars don't leak, the yellow one, the wrecked one. Has a brand new top actually. Interiors on both cars are nice, my dd's is in slightly better shape I'd have to say. If I kept one and sold the other so I could start building one, I'd probably sell my current dd. I'll be removing the damaged body pieces tomorrow to make sure everything is straight and unaffected from the accident before I get my hands on replacements and get her back on the road. I'll go take some pics of both cars tomorrow and throw them up I guess, anything anybody particularly wants to see? |

Just take some good pics of them that's all!
I would most definitely sell them both(non dd first) continue to save and sll your dd and purchase another fox. Better platform to start with then a vert. Plus verts my least favorite, although I've seen some awesome ones. This is my opinion also, so take it for what it is. 8)

both of them pretty much suck balls (tranny). In the wrecked one 2nd gives me hell, my dd doesn't like 3rd or 4th. Goes in but grinds. So I'm looking around for another tranny, or somebody that can rebuild mine for a decent price

does it come with a mulet? because they are getting harder to find and if you have to grow your own its not worth it

Depends on what you plan to do with the car.
If your a 100% straight-line guy, I'd keep the Mustang. If you're at all into corners, the F-body suspension is considerably better than the crap Ford put under the Fox.
