Yay or Nay? sob story inside

about a month ago I bought a 89 hatch. I bought it for 2400 when i bought it the only problem i had with the car was an exhaust leak, speedo didn't work (owner gave me the new cable), ebrake barely worked, and bad fuel sender unit, the driver side quarter panel is bent pretty bad, the driver side fender was bent also but no frame damage, running a little rich, and it has 200XXX miles. Now onto the good. Both brakes and rotors and calipers are new, has a new high torque starter, new bellhousing, new clutch and flywheel, new cobra rims and tires, 140 speedo conversion, and seemed to be maintained well I bought it off of a 40 year old man didn't look like it was abused. Last night I got drunk and started doing donuts for about 30 seconds and when i driving back it backfired twice and when i got to my house it smelled like tranny fluid and burnt tires. so I look under the car and the speed sensor had popped out and was leaking a little tranny fluid once i put it on jack stands and put it back in the leaking stopped. Tried to start the car and my starter was out I push started it and turned back on. I have 1600 left to spend should i repair the starter and fix the speedo and sell the car and pick up another one, or spend the money to fix it and live with it yay or nay all help would be appreciated.

Like I said I was drunk. One way or another you might have been done something stupider or less regardless everyone does something stupid when they're drunk. My first time ever pushing the car and i was around the block so I decided f%ck it, do I deserved to get flamed yes, i'm asking for an opinion if you were in my position is all. Unfortunately i don't have any pictures at this moment front end looks like it could use some bondo and the fender needs to be replaced but i've taken both apart and doesn't seem to be any frame damage hope this helps.

he said no frame damage, maybe the car had a collision, you can always buy a fender and front bumper....

well all in all the only thing i can see actually going to get worse is that its running rich, I believe that they're may be a bad ground for the starter which is why its burning it out, and my diff is starting to catch the one wheel burnout its not their yet but its definitely getting their. Otherwise the cars never leaked other than last night from which i'm guessing the tranny fluid was leaking out where the speed sensor input was supposed to go in.

adjust the timing with a light, and maybe the needs a tune up, or maybe it needs a rebuild, but at 200k if the car was treated properly it should still be good with a tune.

First off im not trying to talk sh*t. but $2400 dollars for a car with 200000 miles and a damaged quarter panel just doesnt seem like a good project to start out with. not to mention all the other things. the fender no big deal cause you can pull it and replace it. if you plan on replacing the motor then its fine. i guess what im getting at is it sound like you spent to much money for it. It sounds like its a $1200 dollar car. i could be wrong cuz i havent seen any pics.

Seems like the car was a little on the pricey side. With my imagination of the body damage it seems like a pretty worn out car, is your interior in the same condition?

Based on how you explained the car, I would sell it and try to recover the money if not some.

Spend a little bit more time looking and a good deal will pop up, just be patient.
