Got my motor...How to remove bolts from tranny

Long story short...

I have the 351 engine begging to be placed in. Now I have my motor ready to pull out but i need to know after removing the tranny bolts from under the car, how do I remove the bolts at the top of the tranny?

remove your trans mount and crossmember and put a jack under tailshaft
and it should pull the motor down enough to access bolts.use an impact with long extensions and a swivel socket

If the car is on a lift you can get them from underneath. But if not what they said...

Even on my lifts I still use a jack. Just a larger one called a tranny jack.

Yeah I am able to reach mine with a long extension and a universal socket without a jack..

i just pulled my motor out today and I used a combination wrench to get to them when I first started taking things apart. I believe that they were 5/8 if I am not mistaken

Thanks guys, I'm sorry but i don't have a lift in my garage like everyone else so I have to work harder LOL. So sounds like near the end of this post that I don't need no jacks and lifts all over the place just a 5/8th's rachet for the tranny bolts correct?

I'll put a jack under the tranny so it won't drop down as I am taking bolts off. But after the tranny bolts it's the motor mounts and pulling time right? I don't give a shit about the wires or anything else in the way.

correct on the bolts, and as far as the wiring if you plan on replacing all that then go ahead but if not then take the time to disconnect everything (especially vacuum lines) and make sure that you know where everything hooks up to for later when you put your new motor in. Just my .02

Actually just never heard them called "universal socket" like you called it. And yes I have seen them. I have Metric and Standard sets deep and short. I just asked the Mac man for swivel sockets not universal sockets. But you are correct on how nice they are to use. If I am pulling the tranny is when I use the jack on it if I am pulling the motor and leaving the tranny I also Do NOT take out the cross member.
