A cam swap won't necessarily lose power any where with stock heads but it has to be the right cam. Cam selection is a bit pickier with poor flowing heads. With heads that flow well, its possible for a shit cam to be used and still make ok power just because the heads are going to move a bunch more air than the poor flowing heads.

Most zinc coating is kinda yellowish, isn't it? All my zinc coated nitrous fittings are, and other zinc coated stuff I've seen.

zinc is a rust preventative coating. when you get bolts from the hardware store and they have that yellow coating that is zinc with yellow dichromate. its good shit. plating is not done by "dipping" the parts, theres ALOT more that goes into it than that. (8 years plating experiance, mostly aerospace shit)

This doesn't really have anything to do with this thread but my power steering pulley shakes and swivels so I want your opinion on if you think it's the PS pump like the shaft or the pulley itself??

Remove valve cover bolts. Pull valve cover from head. No need to touch the intake.

as long as it isnt blocking the valve covers. its only a space issue. if u can squeeze em out, then yes. if the intake is blockin em, no. is it easier with the intake off...probably.

give it a try first

it really depends where you're from blueberrystang. from where im at, cali, you can't get gears for 400 unless you're installing it yourself. i just bought gears at randy's ring and pinion website, costing me 219 bucks for some decent yukon ones. the masterkit(highly suggested) runs for around 125 bucks and don't forget the LSD and 80w90 fluid. that'll run you about 400 bucks and this isn't including install. however i seen some cheaper 4.10's which runs about 119.. but the sales rep he doesn't recommend them because they're noisy as hell because of the gear cut. with 400 bucks, u can do the gt40 intakes, i've seen some on ebay going for 75 bucks for used ones. But like what reverenddexter says, you dont want to do things over. you should start with heads. if you're looking to do work yourself u can get a nice set of trickflow heads for around 400-600 bucks and you would see a MUCH bigger difference in power than just a intake. that's my 2 cents.

I'm getting the 4.10's done for $450, and that's parts, labor, and all.
