What Are My Chances of Buying A Fox?

Hey guys haven't posted in a long time but I need some predictions if possible. I recognize that the market for fox bodies seems to be diminishing pretty quickly, but I have been saving up for one anyway. I already have a car, so my parents won't buy me another one (obviously) and I really really want to buy a fox body 5.0 this spring. At the moment I have around 3000 dollars, and if I can get a job my goal is 5000 by around march or april. My dad insists it will never happen, and its getting me down, but I can take the honesty. What is your opinion, will there still be *working* fox bodies on the market between 3 and 5 thousand dollars? Or should I start looking for other options? Thanks a lot for the answers (I realize they won't be that accurate, but general thoughts are appreciated)

I can find drivable foxbodies for $3-5k all day long. It just depends on how picky you are. If you want a 5-speed notch, you'll have a lot more trouble than if you're okay with a hatch or convertible with an automatic.

OP, where are you located? Have you looked at Craigslist at all? Just go to the Cars and Trucks section and search for "Mustang" with a min price of 100, max of 3000 and see what's out there.

They are easy to find. Condition is going to make it harder. You'll have a hard time finding one with clear coat not coming off.

There will be no more fox bodies around by the time you get 5000. Quit now

I am actually thinking just the opposite of the OP. I'm a little nervous about sinking the kind of money that I'm about to spend into my car.

There seems to be SO many around cheap, that I know I'll never get it back. Good luck. Hope you get the car that you want. Judging by the cars I saw while looking at mine, you can find one in your price range for sure.

One piece of advice though. Check the strut towers out REALLY well...

Cement this in your head right now: you will NEVER get your money back from modifications.

Cars are not investments. Money put into them is paying for your enjoyment, not something that will be worth money later.

Buy and mod a car you enjoy, not something you think you'll be able to sell later at a profit.

I know all of this, and still I keep doing it...

I usually build hotrods though. Seems worse with these cars. I'm also planning a LOT of expensive upgrades for this car. Doesn't matter. I know what I'm getting into. I just like to build cars.

Sorry to hyjack. Once again, good luck with the hunt!

Where are you located, theres 2 fox's for sale within 5 minutes of my house that I pass about 20 times a day lol. One is in very nice condition that apparently had a recent 2 tone paint job done to it, and the other has not perfect paint but still looks nice...

I bought my 5 speed 88 notch off of craigs list. I got it for 1000$ with an exploded tranny. 500$ more doll hairs and I had a driveable car. Granted the paint and trim isn't immaculate but you get what you pay for and I wanted a blank cavas. The only mods to the car are welded in flows (welded into the factory pipes for maximum getto fabulousness) tri ax, adjustable clutch cable with aluminum quadrant.

In this economy you will be able to take advantage of others misfortune.. There are cars out there that people have put good time and money into and now have to sell cheap because they need mortgage money fast...

Save your money and take your time, you will something nice.....
