Repairing/welding fox seat frames.
Has anyone ever attempted repairing or welding sport seats? I am in the market for used seats but the pickins are slim. I would like to keep the car original (in the interior anyway) Most of whats out there consists of seats with "lumbar lean" to it, just like mine. Anyone know what causes this and f it repairable? If it is, I'll re-foam and reupholster my seats.

you can get the brackets off ebay universal racing seat brackets, and check the floor for a crack sometimes your carpet is the only thing keeping you in

I fixed one on a friends 5.0. It had massive gansta lean and about a 8" tear in the floor. We welded on some subframes and then tacked the floor back together. The MM style subframes will help a ton because the seat bolts thru them.

Thanks for the replies. It's a rust free car and fortunately there are no holes of any sort in the floors. It must be a weld. I'll check out the link on corral.net to see what I can come up with. The other thing is,,,I've heard that matching your original opal gray cloth is virtually impossible. All the aftermarket stuff is slightly different in color. I'll settle if I have to. I saw a thread somewhere that followed through a step by step on re foaming and covering. Think I'll give it a shot myself this winter while the car is mothballed.
Does anyone sell replacement air bladders for the lumbar support? |
