C'mon guy, really. I've put 2 10"s in my 1991 Gt Convert and had no space. Do you really need trunk space in a Hatchback. Just let the backseat be you trunk space and make you buddies drive there own cars, Ya Dig.

I think theres only a 100 pound difference between a hatchback and a coup. I wouldnt worrie about the weight of your subs unless your doing some serious drag racing. and then if you are racing just pull them out

awsome vid find nolife but a single ten inch will hit pretty hard in a hatch back i got a box only to help over power my exhuast and a ten inch with 200 watts is more then enough to sound good and give base if you go crazy you can break windows, but if you do wanna do a spare tire box it would look pretty sick.

Ive done a 12" in the spare and I've done a 10" with a grill that was flushmounted with the rest of floor so you could still use all your trunk space. I'm a guy who likes a sub for just low-end fill to compliment a decent sounding system so I don't care too much for loudness. In the end, a hatchback will always be louder and both of those setups were plenty loud. You can make a small 3/4 MDF box and a carpeted luan coverplate and get a 10 or 12 to sound great and take up no trunkspace. It will be less weight than a couple 12s in a box, but not by more than 30-40 lbs, which in reality isn't going to make much of a difference in a street car.

Not to piss on your parade, but you'd be surprised at how many companies over-rate the shit out of their stuff. I've been in the stereo game a long time, unfortunately, and have seen it all. Wattage is your voltage multiplied by your current. Go look at your amp and see how many amps your fuses are rated for, then multiply that by about 13.6 and that will be how many watts your amp will push at peak just before the fuses blow. This is also assuming it's 100% efficient, which it isn't. I'll guarantee you'll be surprised at what you find.

No, they really can push 3000 watts even with a 30 amp fuse. It is 3000 watts peak for 0.00001 seconds at 1khz at 40% THD at 14.4volts. It might not be a CEA-2006 standard rating but it is still a rating

You are definately not getting a 15 in the spare hole, not near enough air space like someone else mentioned, and Polyfil...hahaha that doesn't work.. And yes amps, especially the cheaper ones are HIGHLY overated on power and even the good ones most people dont get the max out of them cause they are rated at 18+ volts usually and not too many people run that to them unless the are competing......You can make 1- 10 or 12 sound better and hit harder than trying to go bigger or more numbers.... I built a box for my escalade with 4-8" DD subs and people always thought it was 2- 15's or 4 12's their faces were hillarious when they saw the speakers,, "No really where are the rest of the speakers" Good subs + good amp + perfect box = Loud and sounds good. Cheap huge subs+ cheap amp+ not enough box = sounds like shit
