NOTCH to be or not to be?????

OK so their selling me a 4 banger notch.. but with the ugly red interior but it doesnt have motor or trans... they want 750 for it....i can get a manual trans for it...its an automatic..so my question is is it worth buying?????? and how much or how hard would it be to convert it to a standard..the only thing i would need is the motor...ohh and do this have the 8.8 rear end????and if i put 5.0 motor does it go in easy or are there any special things or parts ill need?

8.8 rear end is going to be 200-400 depending if you pull it from a junkyard, or buy from soneone that did.

motor is 200-500 depending. a NEW crate motor can be $2k. A well built motor is around $7k with good h/c/i and all the goodies.

my AOD to T5 swap cost me around $2500.

i got my notch for 1000 with a popped trans. IMO, 750 is a lot for a roller. I would say it would be worth while if you had a donor car and could get the notch for no more than 500. suitable donors could be t birds and cougs from the same year or you could get a setup out of a newer car with mas airflow.

i would wait for the car you want instead of building the one you want. i think you can get yourself a rough 5.0 stick for 2k that you could chip away at. (dont forget that on top of that drive train you are going to need to overhaul or upgrade that 20 yr old suspension)

converting to a 5.0 you also need to upgrade the front end as well if you want it to stop.

I think that you could also stay on a low budget by going carb'd vs going efi on the 5.0 swap

Don't do it. It's an interior you don't like, an automatic, and still has 4 banger springs. You'll need to dump in a motor (300-500), transmission swap (clutch, pedals, flywheel, transmission etc. 1,500-2,500) and then do all the work. So I would just keep searching or waiting.
