Need head & cam suggestions for 302 HO carbureted

Guys im sorry if this has been posted and answered a 100 times. This is what im working with...A stock 302 HO shortblock out of a 90 GT with 85k...I tore it down and had the block cleaned, rehoned, magafluxed and installed new std bearings, cam bearings, rings, reused the factory rods and forged pistons, polished the crank...I know the E7 heads are a waste of time to port since the gt40's are available for reasonable prices...+ my bbk shorty should fit the "40P's". My coupe is an 88 with speed density, id rather run a good carb set up and keep it simple...Im looking for at least 300hp at the fly....no alphabet cams, what cam, intake and cfm carb would be great for a street/strip toy for low 13's or high 12 ET's...my car already has electric fan, 2 1/2'' exaust with H-pipe,no cats, 40 series, MSD 6A ign, crane cams fireball coil, and supposedly the rear end has a spool but im unawhere of the gear ratio....i bought this car with no engine, and it has the t5 btw...any help would be awsome...thanks

Edelbrock makes good intakes. And a barry grant carb will do you good. A 650 will be fine.

if all you want is high 12s go with the gt40 junk and a stock cam
We speed tested my right arm for quickness in shifts... So he could design the cam for proper shift recovery.
Yeah, the stock cam is pretty efficient. Put higher ratio rocker arms on there and you will have a "rough" idle too. Nothing crazy, but you get sound out of it.

Thanks for the input...the car came with a holly 600 and a performer 289 intake lol, not even a RPM! I might go with the RPM air gap...is a ED 750 too much for the mild cam with gt40 heads? I like that Holly 650 DP but its 500 bucks!

I just put togather a similar set up for my 82 Capri RS. I started with a 89 forged piston short block, added a new Melling oil pump, a Comp XE266HR cam(216/224 @ .050 w/ .544/.555 lift), new FRPP timing chain, all new gaskets & seals, a new set of Trick Flow TW 170 heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM air gap, Mighty Demon 650, FRPP shorties, MAC off-road X-pipe, Flowmaster 3-chamber cat back, rebuilt T-5, 8.8 w/ 3.73's.

This combo runs great and makes awsome power!

89 LX Black, Dart 363, C4,T76BB, FAST EFI

when it comes to heads, intake and carbs, keep your eye out for used ones and save a small fortune on your build
