stroker kit balancing

so ill be picking up a '69 351w, and i will be stroking it to a 408w. the only thing i have some confusion on, is the balancing of the rotating assembly. i have an '88 Hatch with a 302, which is 50oz externally balanced, while 351w are 28oz externally balanced.

when i order the stroker kit, how should i have it balanced? i would like to transfer the balancer and flywheel from my 302 to the 408 stroker if possible. if i have the rotating assembly internally balanced, will i be able to do exactly that, or must i have it balanced for the 50oz external balance? if neither of those are an option, i assume i must succumb to the 28oz external balance, and i must buy a new balancer and flywheel to match. correct?

thanks for your help

You will need to use a 28 oz balancer and 28oz flexplate or flywheel. The balancer and flexplate/flywheel need to match. You can not use the 302 balancer.

im looking at CHP stroker kits. the one im intertested in only has the option for internal balancing. so could i use the 50oz balance then, or do i still need to swap to the 28oz balance?

I believe if it is internally balanced you would need a zero balance crank and flywheel.

if its internally balanced, wouldnt the external balances act as a neutral?

Yes you will need to have it balanced and you will need a 28 oz balancer and flywheel/flexplate like Darrell said. Best bet is to contact Jim @ FordStrokers.com 331-347-408-418-427 Custom Built Small Block Ford Engines

no need to swap, Jim sells CHP, I bought mine from him, just have him get you what you need.
