which heads?


on the merc mountainers with the 5.0's in the which heads did they have on them?

Here you go man. I found this on another forum, so I would just double check it's accuracy. And isn't it time for you to change your location in your profile? Not in J-Vegas no more brother. lol

"V8 explorers and Merc mountaineers had two different head castings from 96-01, gt-40 and gt-40p. the gt-40p heads came on mid 97-01 v8 explore/mountaineer. GT-40p heads have smaller exhaust valves and the plug angle is straight. and the exhaust ports on the heads are shaped different so you have to have special headers to put them on a mustang. the GT-40 heads have 1.84 intake valves and 1.54 exhaust valves.These are found on 96-mid 97 explorer/mountaineer 5.0's. GT-40 heads have a F3ZE casting number. They also have GT and 3 bars stamped in them near the lower area in the front and on the underside. GT-40p heads have 4 bars. hope this helps man."
