C Spring- how much to cut?
I see where some people have cut 1/2 a spring, 3/4 of a spring, and heard of cutting a whole spring...but never see the results. Trying to figure out how much to cut ahead of time to get a nice straight level drop. Lots of searches, no good results. Can anyone help? I wonder if the instructions tell you and since I haven't ordered them yet I don't know?
This post shows a guy who cut 3/4 of a spring... to me, it looks like maybe he could have gone the full coil and it would have been level- Re: 1991 LX 5.0 Mustang FoxBody - $7500 - Mustang Forums at StangNet Who knows... may end up going w/ a pro kit, but the few guys I know that have the C Springs love em! Thanks!!! |

a full coil is alot of spring missing lol... but any aftermarket spring thats a known brand will up the spring rates so you'll get a shorter stiffer spring. Just depends on what you're going for. Looks? Twisties? Drag? But on a side note, that car is clean as FUCK!

Excellent! Thanks! The picture helped.
To answer the question though, just going for looks. It's a daily driver with lots of aggressive driving, but no track time in the future. I was originally looking at a pro kit drop, but I have 245 45 17s on a 17x9 03 Corbra wheel and I currently have some rubbing issues (suspension up front is shot)- figured the linear spring rate on the 'c' springs will help prevent more rubbing. |

I have progressive rate springs on my car. I'm not sure what brand they are.. they came on my donor car when I bought it. It does ride a bit rougher than other cars I have driven, and the back bottoms out easy with 3 adults riding in it, but I've never driven a fox with stock springs on it.. I'm not sure how it compares. It handles nicely though.
