Charcoal canister removal

To those of you who have ditched the charcoal can in the engine compartment, what did you do to get rid of it? I've long since removed all the emissions crap, so I would like to eliminate that too. Or at least move it. I know I could just put a filter on the line, but would I be better off trying to mount the thing back by the tank and keep it 'plugged in' to eliminate the smell associated with a venting tank?

I just took it all out and plugged the lines. As far as the vent line, I ran it to vent right by my air cleaner and haven't had a wiff of gas at all.

i just pulled all that crap out, the bracket, and left the hard vent line from the tank to where it ends right under the passenger side.

I only smell gas when im under the car, and basically have my head right next to the damn thing.

I have heard people say you can smell gas in the car from it, if you dont move the line, but I haven't at all.
