Throttle body Questions
I have a pretty much stock motor, except a 2.5 inch exhaust from stock intake manifolds back. The question I have is that I have been looking to buy a bbk 70mm throttle body and would like to know if I will benefit at all from putting a bigger throttle body on without doing any other work to it at the moment. I have heard some people say it will do more harm than good and I have heard other saying you would gain up to like 10 hp but im assuming that's with supporting air flow mods such as biger ports for upper and lower intake manifold, that sort of thing. So I want ur guys input on this. I need a new throttle body anyways because the seals inside are bad and its contributing to my vaccum leak. Even if it doesn't help out any I will be okay with that as long as it doesn't negatively effect my performance. It is nice and shiny though..lol, thanks for the help

dont see why anyone claims it would negatively affect you, it will just help your 5.0 breath better. i say go for it! especially if your current throttle body is leaky.
your not gonna gain like ten hp.... im sure hardly even 2 but you definetly will feel a better throttle response through all rpms. |

An after market throttle body will improve throttle response, especially after some other throttle response mods, such as a CAI, and upper plenum. Like ^ said, you might see a few HP, but not 10.

Make sure you port match your intake opening to the TB or the 'lip' will cause turbulence and therefore, could hurt you.

port match your TB to you intake port....70mm TB =70mm intake opening. Also you may need to upgrade to a 70mm EGR

Yeah, with a die grinder it's pretty easy.

if you just want to slap and go then go on ebay and get a stock one for your car. and you will save money. but if your going to do the porting id set aside a day to do it. pull your upper plenum, remove TB and EGR, port it to 70mm, clean out all the metal inside the intake. reinstall intake with new gasket, install new tb and egr with new gaskets. dont forget to plug all your vacuum lines back in

i would have the intake ported but i have never done something like that before and i am a full time accounting major if you can picture that, lol..so whatever im looking to do has to be fairly simple and pretty much bolt on. But i did look on ebay and there isnt any stockers for my car right now, there is one but it says $100 OBO so yeah i was like f that. but the 65mm is interesting i would consider grabbing one of those if i could find one for a good price, anyone have one or know where i can get one, im lookin to buy this thursday or friday if possible

You will need a 65mm egr plate for your tb to bolt to.Or at least I did on my "90".Never had a 94 but I don't think they are much diff.except for the elbow. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.Good luck.
