1990 5.0 lx CHARGING and STARTING ISSUES

I bought my 1990 5.0 lx a little over 2 years ago the car had some engine mods done by the previous owner exchaust headers he put a MSD in and a cold air intake i had the car maybe 6 months and than the issues the car would not and still will not start when the temp is over 180 even after i replaced the starter which i knew was going bad,, i finally replaced thinking all my high temp starting promblems.. NOPE so i thought maybe alterntor .. so i took it out had it tested it was bad so i bought a brand new one not a rebuild.. put it in and still not charging brand new battery brand new starter solnoid iam reading 6 to 8v at the solnoid i have checked a my connections and still nothing the battery in located in the trunk but iam still not getting any reading over 8v at the solnoid
PLEASE HELP iam at wits end the car sounds great it has balls but iam only able to go a few miles from the house and i can not turn it off til i get in back into the garage .. IT SUCKS

yea thats what i have been told but like i said iam not getting a thing higher than 8v at the solenoid so i figure the size of the wire going back to the battery at this point shouldnt matter
