Hrm.

It's my understanding that the biggest restriction on the 5.0s after the stock exhaust is the heads. I was under the impression that you're just wasting money to do a bunch of bolt-ons until you had better heads swapped on, even if they were just some junkyard iron GT40s off of an Explorer.

Thats the thing.I can barely afford a h/c/i/ combo plus install and supporting mods or,get a cai,pulleys,headers,o/r h-pipe,70mm TB,EGR,Sub frame connectors, strut tower brace,Stall conv,4.10's,and drag radials.I would like to get all the supporting mods first, and save for the h/c/i..What would you do?

I think what jumped out at me was just the TB. I wouldn't do that 'til you have better flowing heads. Other than that, I totally agree - traction before power.

I was about to say don't waste your time with the STB, but then I saw you have a 'vert, so I'll say when you get a STB, just make sure to get one that's triangulated to the firewall.

You would prolly gain more with jus puttin heads on with the stock intake, then save up for the cam, intake, and TB. Besides bare dart aluminum heads are relatively cheap, and the rest of the valve train doesn't cost that much. It doesn't matter what you have if the heads don't flow. But this is all in my opinion.

Gluck and keep us updated!

I would work your suspension, and buy HCI and save up for the supporting mods and labor and do it all at once, go ahead and do exhaust and gears with the suspension if you have the money now..

What are the typical HP gains from these bolt on mods-Stuff like pulleys, headers,o/r H-0pipe,CAI,70mm TB,Timing @14*.Also what are the typical gains from doing the H/C/I combo? What would be the avereage labor cost to install a Head, cam, and intake combo?

Pullies headers CAI TB are basically supporting mods, don't expect to pick up much from them as far as HP or seat of the pants feel, Your best bet as far as feeling it will be gears, and then HCI, all of the other stuff you mentioned will help after you do the top end.
As far as the "typical gains" that all depends on what Heads, cam, and intakes you decide to go with and how well you match your setup. You should focus more on 1/4 times or how it feels to you than HP anyways. You need to decide how much you are going to spend on the combo, and go from there as far as how well it will run and how fast.
Labor cost vary depending on where you live and the mechanic I have no idea what a job like that would cost having a mechanic do it, I have always done my own. I have seen friends pay 1200-1500 for a head gasket which to me is fucking outrageous, but I guess it depends on location and mechanic.

Well its like this, ill have 2grand to play with.So im debating the best way to go.With that 2G's i have to get full-lenght SFC's,and some 4.10's installed.I just dont think ill have enough loot for the h/c/i combo and TB,and a CAI.And who knows what else.I can install all the bolt ons myself so thatll save me alot of loot.

don't even worry about upgrading your throttle body if your keeping your stock intake.. the lower stock intake has pencil sized ports so porting your tb opening and buying a larger tb isn't going to net you next to nothing.

wait on the tb until you throw another manifold at the car.. focus on the gears, subframes and shit first

Cool that will save me some loot for other shit. That'll pay for some new balljoints. When i do upgrade the intake and heads,it will most likely be a Explorer or Cobra unit. Will i need to upgrade to 24LBS injectors and a larger fuel pump?

Injectors when you change to better flowing heads. Stock explorer heads 19's are usually still fine. fighly ported explorer's, Afr 165, 185, and TF 170's 24's will usually do it. Bigger than those, 30's might be what you need. Obviously the cam choice comes into play too, but that's just a good base to go on. There are many charts you can use that have injector hp ratings. I'm not on my own pc at the moment otherwise I would pull one out of my 'favorites' and post it for you. As long as you are realistic about the power you will be making (not going by manufacturer claims) you will get the right injector for your situation.

You can change out your upper/lower intake to an explorer or cobra and get some gains.. but after you upgrade there (ditch the stock lower intake) then next bottle kneck of power is the stock e7 heads which on a budget you should be pulling gt40 iron heads off an explorer/mountaineer.

You don't have to go with a cam/heads combo.. you could save up for a used vortech a trim, sc trim or s trim and bolt that bitch on.. pickup a used set of injectors and matching meter and rock out with your cock out

Wow... Someone with a plan and doing it the right way. You don't see that every day on here, lol.

Side note: Stock TB is 60mm and stock maf is 58mm. You can do the math I'm sure. Stock intake I would do a 65mm (I have one for sale if you are interested) and stay far away from the C&L in my opinion. I had bad results along with many, many other people, although Hatch is using one now. If you really want one that bad, I have the 76mm C&L with intake tube for sale too.

uh i lined up TB to upper and looked into it, and the 70mm TB matches perfect....i wonder if trickflow made different models of the track heat?

I don't think he will need 30lbers with any reasonable heads he will put on the car. If he goes 347 then yes
