3.27 Gears

I know for the Strip an all around alot of people prefer 3.73's or 4.10's.

But I have stumbled apon a FREE set of 3.27's. My car is my DD and with the stock 2.73's in there now I love the Gas milage.

What I want to knnow is will it be worth it to install the 3.27's.
I know I should feel it a little but not sure if it will give a pretty good kick or not.

Any Advise Appreciated.

my 92 came with 3.27 stock so i couldnt tell you if there will be a really big kick.

the guy i bought my car off of, had 2.73's in it when he got it and said that he could top out the speedo in 2nd. it has 3.27's in it now and i have to grab 3rd to top the speedo out (85mph) now. not much help but just to give you a rough idea of what your looking at, 4th in mine will bounce the speedo peg off the trip reset. and i don't think you will see a big diff. in gas mileage.

Free is good. They will be an improvement over 2.73 gears.

My daily driver has 16 cylinders and 4400hp @ 1000 rpm....

gears

I have the 2.73 in my 94 gt. I also have the 3.27 in my 01 cobra. I think the 3.27 is more interesting.

Thanks everyone. I think I will do it.
I also have an Extra center section laying around. I will buy the Clutch rebuild kit for it and install then install the Gears.

Will take a little to find out the results shortly maybe taking off the road to do some much needed repairs. And to fix some rust before it gets to bad.

No not yet.
Have to order parts and wait a little to get them in.

Have to much other stuff on the Plate at the moment. So off to the back burner it goes for now.

Sorry.

Hey everyone. My father is looking to make this gear replacement (2.73 to a 3.27) on his 98' Mustang. He's curious how to set it up, how to shim it, torque specs, all that good stuff. Anyone know, or know where we could find that information online or elsewhere? What else should he watch for/make sure to do. It's a 7.5 rear axle if that helps. He said he's done one before but it was a long time ago. Any written instruction to jog the memory would be great.

Thanks in advance
