rear main leak

rear main leak


just had rear main seal replaced and it still leaks from there. the gasket on the oil pan looks good and they said it was good when the had the tranny down. they also said there was no scaring were the seals goes. its an 89 GT 5 speed. any ideas?

The seal wasn't done properly.

its a ford, 9.5 out of 10 fords rear main will leak, normally its not to bad but if its pretty bad go back to the place and tell them

the seal probably isn't seated right

There's supposed to be some sort of silicone put on each side of that seal to prevent it from leaking ask them if they did that.

Usually if its leaking and you replace it it will still leak or get worse. Thats just how fords are.
