c4 trans


I have a C4 trans and the tail shaft rear seal is leaking i have heard this is a common problem on the C4's how hard is this to replace ???

can my Dumb ass do it or does it require a trans shop to do it

Pull the old seal out and put the new one in. It isn't complicated but it does take some patience. Are you sure its the seal or is it the tailshaft bushing on the inside?

no darrell i am not sure i am just hopeing thats all it is and could remeber if that was a pressed in seal or not

just bought a rear for the car and alluminum drive shaft so i will just replace the seal when i get the rear next week

its the inner seal thats pressed then correct

The inner bushing I believe needs to be replaced with the tailshaft removed. Was the stock driveshaft yoke wore down in the center? If so it was probably just a bad rear seal.

Darell i am going to pull it friday and replace it

plus all new exhaust installed on friday .... the mods are starting lol
