Brake Booster ???'s

My car has an air noise when I hit my brake pedal...also on occasion my brakes seem to be non existant when I hit the pedal. Other times it's perfect. Seems to be when I pump the brake I have no brakes and when I hit it hard the first time there perfect.

Is this a bad vaccum on the booster or a bad booster? I see the large vaccum line going to my booster...should I replace that first?

Thanks

bad brake booster=brakes hard as fuck to push
bad master cylinder or leak somewhere=brakes losing pressure and pedal going to the floor

hmmm...well it's not happening all the time...but my brakes can be hard to push. Is this indicating a leak as it is not consistant?

could be. If theres a leak anywhere on the master cylinder, its bad. Usually where it bolts to the brake booster. Any fluid coming outa it means the seals are bad
