Transmission help
i have an 88 mustang i bought it about a year back and i have been doing body work to it. i found that it is extremely hard to shift. ive been told it could be the synchros or the clutch but im not sure. it has the transmission out of a 4 cyl mustang. any suggestions would help, thanks

what do you mean hard to shift? does it grind or is it just real stiff going into gear?

Just find a used T5 trans and run it. It's not worth repairing that trans. Replace the shifter assembly while you're at it. I guess it's possible that the clutch is not disengaging fully.

If you do some work to the engine, take it easy on that 4cyl trans. Don't spend more than 100 bucks on a used t5, but a tko is a whole world away from anything stock ford, and will stand up to abuse for the life of the car (maybe). With some searching and patience you can build ass-kicking cars for pennies if you're willing to run used parts.
