your kill switch will not stop a good thief.

infact, its usually the first thing they look for.

I had a buddy that competed every year in this contest where installers from all over the US would go and take a car that they had put an alarm on, and the others would see how long it took for them to bypass it and start the car and drive away. They never got past his and got it started. Had over 15 kill switches, little overkill but it worked and they all armed and disarmed with the alarm except one (i think)

Had ignition, fuel pump, starter, coil, several through out the car breaking power to starter, ignition, etc. It was crazy, but he won like 5 grand. He was an alarm geek, he was always adding functions to his alarm and different things to keep it from being broken into or stolen. Had some crazy interior sirens, super loud exterior, back in the day Alpine made a mounted "car phone" that linked into their top of the line alarm 8080 and you could call the phone and arm the alarm, lock the doors, roll up the windows, etc.

sorry know this is a little off your starter kill but it just made me think back and I ran with it....haha

adder is right...if someone wants your shit bad enough, they will take it. i have one on mine tied to the clutch safety switch...otherwise, bc my ignition cylinder is jacked up, it can be started without a key...lol

think about it, your average stupid thief is not going to steal your car, they are just gonna take your radio and whatever else they find...most people that are boosting cars are very smart and expect some sort of alarm, kill switch, club or whatever..

This is very true, my buddy, like I said was an alarm geek, so it was more of a hobby type thing for him, he had a killer stereo that he won a lot of competitions with for sound quality and had 6 JL 8w3's and all dynaudio or polk mids and highs, but the car was a CRX they would be better taking the system and leaving the car. He also soldered razor blades around the back cage of the head unit and had other little tricks to TRY to keep them from getting it...

One of the best, or my favorites he set up a switch where you had to turn the map light in my truck on to start it, and another one you had to hold the cruise control button on the end of the blinker switch. A plain switch under the dash is a dead give away and any theif will go straight to that, but if you hide them its a little harder, on the older cars that had the high/low button on the floor board we used them a LOT for starter kills

My alarm is my car. It's carbed, louder then a mofo, and gets horrible gas mileage and is always on empty and sticks out like a sore thumb. It's got manual steering and manual brakes so if someone actually steals it they'll prolly wreck it before they get around the block.

Put a switch on your fuel pump wiring, either a pushbutton type on a relay that has to be held in while you turn the key for the fuel pump to turn on or a simple toggle that you can flip manually either way. Depending on how long it sat, cutting off the fuel pump power will still allow the car to start and maybe move it a few feet and then stall. My thinking is once the car is running or at least cranking and someone starts backing it out of your driveway, when it stalls, they are not going to sit there in the middle of the road and troubleshoot after making a lot of noise from starting it. Like stated, nothing is fool proof but car security is just like network security and home security. It is all about the different independent layers and how many of them you want to use. Hell, although not convenient, you could always take out and hide your rotor, pull out your TFI module plug half way, swap the postion of the coil and a random plug wire on the dizzy, and pull off the small wire from the ignition to the solenoid. No one is going to figure all of those out right away unless they have a tow truck

My kill switch is a 12 gauge trigger. But on the mustang I got a pager alarm. The car is in the garage and the truck is parked in front of the garage door.

Or the Mosin if I'm feeling old fashioned.

Ive always thought that pulling the rotor out of the dist would be a pretty easy way to keep someone from driving away the car, or the coil wire. Not many theifs walk around with spares.

I used to do the same shit!!

We dont have too many people boosting cars around here (town of 35,000), I just lock the doors in my mustang and keep it in the garage. As for my DD...that stays unlocked. I'd rather them rummage through it for nothing than break a window for nothing. <<<< True story, just happend a few weeks ago. I fucked up though and left my mp3 player in the center console. Little fuckers.....

It's either a REALLY bad neiborhood and nobody will come into it....Or a REALLY good neiborhood that when a unknown car creeps through everyone runs out with AK's.

Or just a nice place to live...
