Identify a relay in engine compartment

There is an electrical relay mounted on the passenger side fender well on a metal tab, just under and slightly behind where the stock MA meter would be. Its wires travel around the strut tower and into a bigger pack of wires. Any idea what that relay is for?

I have one of these relays on my 91 and my 88. My 88's wiring for this relay is all chewed up and corroded so I am wondering what is not working because of it and if I should replace the wiring.

that should be your a/c comp relay

Thanks.
I was now able to find it in the Haynes manual. It disengages the A/C clutch at WOT.
I'll verify if my compressor engages or not and fix as required

Yes it is the A/C relay you are talking about. And just a little FYI in late 92 and 93 Ford did decide to move the fuel pump relay into the engine bay in the same area as the A/C relay, but until then it was under the driver seat.

the relay on the metal tab in front of the strut tower in the engine compartment is the fuel pump relay!!!

Maybe in your 86 but not in my 88 and my 91.

that 86 has a 91 Gt wiring harness in it!!! and the 86 is under the drivers seat!!!
