I cleaned the IAC


I just cleand the IAC on the throttle body, put it all back together and now the check engine light is on.

Any ideas???

What'd you clean it with? Have you checked to see what code is being thrown?

Pull the codes and see whats going on. Did you plug the IAC connector back in?

I cleaned it with carb cleaner.Put it all back together and now the check engine light is on. I have not hade it checked yet.

At first, i hade it half way pluged in. I fixed that and the check engine light went away for about ten min and it came back up.

Disconnect the NEGATIVE battery terminal for 10 minutes. That will clear the ECM of any current trouble codes and allow the computer to relearn itself after having its sensors fiddled with...

I disconnected the negative for about a hour. Started the car and engine light was gone for about 30 minutes, then came back...

I guess i need to purchase something to check the codes any ideas

If you go to your local auto parts store, Like Autozone or Advance Auto, they usually have a code reader that they will read your codes with for free. Sometimes they will even clear them for you.
