as a straight bulb upgrade...GE nighthawks work well and last considerably longer than a silverstar ultra.
personally id buy an hid kit. www.intensehid.com is who i use. good ballasts with a decent warranty that wont break the bank. buy the relay harness!! i run the magnetic servo versions (bi-zenon) so i didnt have to change my headlights and i retain hi and low beam in one bulb. power comes directly from the battery if you buy the relay harness which i strongly suggest. 6000k i what i run they look good and you can see like its daytime. bi zenon setup they sell is a very nice kit<< on sale now.. 139$ plug and burn |

Do the HID kit.. I have the bixennon kit with a relay switch. My low beams still blind folks, but i can see "clearly now, the rain is gone."lol. I say go that route, its a easier way to upgrade your old lights.

Get a eBay hid kit for under $40. At work we sell the same kind. Hids make a big difference even in the foggiest headlights.

I say get the Bixennon kit. I just installed mine with its own relay and everything, and man o man are they bright. Im running 10K on headlights and fog lights, at night on low beams its daylight anywhere my car runs i promise..lol. Thats with the lights tinted. Thats the best i can help with, cause ive done the same.

I used to work at a place that sold and installed the cheap ebay style HID kits. Almost every one came back with either blown bulbs or dead ballasts. probably 30% or better had something bad right out of the box. I would never go cheap on an HID kit for that reason. I also had problems with the slim ballasts in my car. They wouldn't start the bulb at random when I would turn my lights on and I would have to turn them off and back on as many times as it took to get the bulb lit.
Also, if you're looking for the brightest light I believe 5300k is the temp that puts out the most lumens. I may be off by a few hundred degrees of temp on that but it's somewhere in there. The hotter you go in bulb temp, the less light the bulb actually puts out, but the more "exotic" the color. Meaning 5300k is pure white and the brightest and 10000k is purple or pink but not nearly as bright. |

The question I have is this... I just bought the 1993 GT 5.0 the Guy I bought the car from had the one piece head light installed in the car the I'm having the same problem in the car my headlights are extremely dim if I install the wiring harness in the lights there bright but they are melting the harness. Are the 9007 the right lights for the 1993? Wasn't wanting to install HIDs just yet

That took forever, so then I used my pnematic 6" polisher and did 400, then 800 then 1500 which took less than a third of the time. Warning though, even after the 1500 grit, the lights looked pretty rough and DEFINITELY not clear. I was a little worried but I still VHT'd them and then when I put the clear coat on, crystal clear. I also used automotive clear, but when I did my third brake light a month or so later I just used rattle can clear and it looked good too, not as good, but definitely good. Good luck. |

I bought new lens kit from 5.0 Restro & they were nice [ the clear ones ] parking lens too.
Here in Texas ,fi you park your car outside , the sun does some real damge on the lens. There is some lens cleaner you can get at Chief Auto Parts that works quite well ,if used reguarly.
