Question

Brightest Headlights

I have a set of smoked headlights on my 1997 mustang but they arnt tinted dark at all
Still my headlights are really dim so i always drive around with my high beams on and its still not as bright as most low beams

I was wondering if there is any kind of special bright bulb i could get so i can see better at night !

are your headlights smoked by vht / tint or did you buy them smoked? are they heat beaten? If so, you can sand them, redo the tint and clear coat and be much brighter.

You could do an HID conversion.

Unless something changed with them in the last few years., the Silverstars have a rated life of about 150-200 hours and back when I used to buy them, that was an over estimate. That is much less then 1/2 of a regular halogen headlight. They also cost about 3x as much. In my opinion, they are not really that much brighter to justify 6x the price. I stopped buying them the second time both burned out on me within an hour or so of each other leaving me with only high beams to finish my trips. Maybe I was just unlucky twice

HID kits aren't hard to install. I always make sure I get ones with a battery harness, or make my own. The ones that are just plug and play will work, but all HID ballasts will spike current on start-up and I just like to run my power source directly to the battery for peace of mind. I have seen HID kits burn up headlight wiring in the past.

In fox bodies its best to do it that way since the power comes straight from the switch. On sn95s I have always done it plug and play with no problems, but I do recommend using the relay pack.

I buy any regular bulb that is next to the "on sale" sticker, that is usually limited to Phillips or the regular or LL Sylvania's. With good newer lenses (not dingy and yellow), they are always more than bright enough.

Just ranting here..
I never understood the reason for the blue tinted bulbs either. They are plain old bulbs with the lower range of visible light filtered out. Its not that they are giving off more light, they are just giving off less of the other colors so they appear blue. Some companies will increase the current ability to make them brighter overall to compensate for the filter and they may be pleasant to the eye but the blueish light reflects back less off of dark things (like a deer). Completely useless in my opinion.

Are you referring to the Angel Eyes like what's on the BMW 5 series?
