180 degree thermostat

well i want to know what are the benefits of adding a 180 thermostat, i realized they are relatively easy to install and cheap, will it hurt the car at all? my car has been running a little warm and i think it wouldnt hurt for it to run a little cooler, anybody else running a 180?

Do the 180 it'll help keep the temps down which will help keep the air inlet temps cooler/power.

There are no draw backs to switching to 180 other then it'll help make it slightly harder to pass emissions smog testing but being your in florida you don't have to worry about that

Just don't go to 160 like some people make the mistake of.. that low and the car isn't able to reach warm up and runs like dog shit unless you correct the tune to account for this typically

im using a 180, havnt tested it yet buttt
with the stock 190 or 195 thermo she ran 196 to 204 degrees all the time,

so with a 180 thermo im predicting shell run 185 to 195 ish Perfect

i have a digitol coolant temp guage, so i can monitor exactly how hot shes running, one day i drove to my friends house with no fan, (had to fix fuse for electric fan)

she got up to 217 at a stop light, even that is still not hot for iron block iron heads,

buddys LT1 camry i mean camaro runs 260 degress everyday..(CRAZY)

u will be fine with 180

got the new one in today, luckily advanced auto was open, boy does she run cooler, she stays in the middle all the time, even idling in my driveway. i would deffinitely recommend the 180 thermostat...everything is perfect now, never gets past the M on normal

use ultra black around the gaskets for extra sealing!
