Transmission Question
i'm doing a tranny swap from t5 to a more intact t5 we'll say.. and on the new one, the bearing retainer is chipped a little bit on the outter end.. this worries me, however, i own 2 other bearing retainers and neither fit because the one that came on this new trans has a wider bearing end and a different bearing size and all that... now i dont' have money.. so i can't tell a shop to make me a new one.. is it ok to use one with a chipped end? i assume all it does is insert into the clutch... so if MOST of it is there is it a problem?

if you get a new one for a fox and it doesnt fit then you might have a t5 out of a 94-95 since their input shafts longer, or I could be wrong, dunno if they use the same bearing retainer. Sean will know. And fuck good luck, most cramped engine compartment in the world lolz

well my buddy said they were all the same.. til 95 i think he said.. but either way it's the same length and all that.. its just that the piece that fits inside that bearing is bigger.. so idk.. and yeah i know it'll be a pain.. but hey.. it's my bro.. you know? so we'll get her done.. plus i have an autocross group and i'm hoping he'll come if his car's a little better.

no its just like... idk. the thing that fits inside that bearing is just bigger in the new one.. point blank.. and i can't even transfer the bearing to a diff retainer cuz this retainer is like bored out more to fit the bearing.. it's weird.

this is the one you need
make sure it has a seal in it. all you have to do is use your old bearing race and the shims behind it. make sure you check the shaft play when its back together.
