Unless you want your fist to go through the CD player, I would recommend the third one, it just looks cheap. I had a UPR shifter in my old 94, when it still had the T5, and I really liked it. I had a Pro 5.0 shifter in it when I changed out to a TKO trans, and I liked it also.

I have a MRT (Steeda) in my 01 Cobra now, and I don't like it as much as the UPR, but that might be the difference in a T5 and a 3650 trans. However, I couldn't beat the price of the MRT ($40).

Too much noise for the general public. A lot of Mustang buyer are older or are just wanting a nice looking car, and don't want to hear that extra noise associated with an aftermarket shifter. Kind of the same reason their exhaust is not as loud as most of us would like. Also the reason why the stock suspension is so high and plush.

My car has a BBK shifter in it and it makes no noise....smooth and tight.
I would like a taller handle on it though....

Y'all haven't noticed any transmission whine when putting the shifter in? I bet if you put the stock shifter back in, you will hear the difference. There will be some noise unless rubber bushings are used attaching the shifter handle. Every shifter I have ever installed, you could hear the transmission more after the install, it's just the nature of it all being solid vesus insulated with rubber.

Are you talking about the sound they added to the shifting on Fast and the Furious? My Steeda doesn't make a peep.

No, I am talking about the sound of every car or truck I have drove or rode in that had an aftermarket shifter. The shifter itself does not make the sound. The transmission is making the sound, but you hear it more after the shifter has been installed because of it being all solid and not insulated with rubber bushings and pads like the stock shifter.

install the rubber bushings correctly and have your stops adjusted correctly and you really shouldnt hear much more noise....ive had the hurst pos shifter and my pro 5.0 and have had little to no more noise. but i kno if the stops arent adjusted correctly then you will def hear noise

^^welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy the mustang!

its reaaaaalllll easy. pull off the trim panels, undo four bolts, pull off the dust cover, undo four more, pop the shifter side to side to break it loose and itll pull right out. clean the edges of the tranny where the shifter sits with a razor blade, rtv the edges, put the new shifter on, bolt it down, adjust the shift stops(if the shifter has them), put the dust cover back on and put the trim panels on.

i took my sweet ass time doin mine and it took me like 30-45min.

Yes, I agree about the stops being adjusted, as they will make alot of noise if not properly adjusted. I think alot of the noise has to do with the condition of the transmission. If your transmission is making alot of noise, it will be heard more with an aftermarket shifter, that is for sure. My Cobra's transmission makes alot of noise (I could even hear it with the stock shifter), and the shifter has definately amplified it.
