Question

4500rpm cutout?

i'm a new member. i got a 91 5.0 with a aod. Its just got a cheap intake and b&m shifter and full mac exhaust for now, but, when it his about 4000-4500 rpms it starts cutting out really bad and falls flat on its face. if i ease into it real real easy itll be fine. but if it gets stomped its goin nowhere, any help would be appreciated!

Idk why the hell anyone suggest that.... My car just did this. It wasn't the ignition module (tfi) it was pick up sensor in the distributor.

check your fuel pressure that will give you an idea if its your fuel pump. an as for your fuel filter its only 8 bucks so thats a cheap thing to try

The first thing I would do is a base idle setting. Doing this will get you throttle body, throttle position sensor, and timing where it wants to be. I had a 95 gt that did the same thing. I bought it running but with a spun rod bearing. After the crank and new bearings install, it ran like shit after 3800 rpm. I finally did a base idle and it now pulls hard all the way through the tach.

Sounds like a timing issue. My car did the same thing when the timing was super retarded, id set base timing and give it a shot. The computer adjusts the timing depending with the vacumm so maybe thats why it does it, unless your really easy on it and the computer see's alot of vacumm????
