MM Gives Me The Itch

I haven't been on here in a LONG time. Too long. I have been playing around spending money on my Duramax lately, and haven't touched my notch project in months. I got an email saying "Modded Mustangs misses me" so I had to drop in and look.

.....instantly that mustang itch comes back. Worse than herpes! I think... I haven't tried herpes out and I am gonna try to steer clear.

Anyway, I need some more motivation to actually get my a$$ in gear and get going on my car again.

I sold my old block and trans, so I am gonna be starting fresh. I still have my turbo and such, but not sure I want to use it. I am thinking about staying N/A on this one. I am pretty set on a 408w. Not sure if I want to go with a c4 or a tko though. What do you guys think? Also, what year block should I go with? They are hard to come across out here so I need to get looking.

proper build 408w would be a beast.

but it all depends on your budget. a 408w is not really a budget build.

what is your budget? what is your goal with the car? (IE weekend car, or drag car)

Money isn't really the issue so much as time is. I'm not a fan of having other people build my cars for me, so this could take a while with my schedule....oh and goal would be street legal car I can take to the drag strip. Our strip here in Albuquerque is terrible and I have actually heard that it may be closing down. So the nearest decent strip to me would be in the southern part of our state about 5 hours away. And since I barely have time to work on it, I know I wont have much time to drag it around the country to race.

Thanks! Read one of the reviews and with the 427 and TFS205 heads they made 685hp. I think that should be plenty. Anybody wanna chime in about their experiences with Trick Flow vs AFR vs Canfield heads?

Also, what are people's thoughts about transmission?

408, trickflow 225 R heads, custom cam, intake depending on fuel injection to carb would make quite a power house.

Where should I go for fuel injection? I am not very knowledgeable about EFI I personally have only dealt with carbs. I'm not opposed to fuel injection if it is the better choice

Apparently you've never played with diesels.... the shock factor with a stupid fast truck is a lot better. The other night I killed a brand new camaro ss. While that would have been no big deal in a modded 5.0 it was killer seeing the look on the guys face when he couldn't hang with a 9000lb truck

....the downside to diesels though, cost. I have to spend about 4 grand here in the next couple months just to mod my transmission enough to be able to hold the power that I am making. If I shell it before I get it up to par, a new one could cost me anywhere from 6-12k depending on what I want.

6-12K for a trans? Thats Nucking Futs, I will look for the place I get my parts from, they sell bad ass built tranny's for about 5g's and they are BAD ASS...Let me see if I can find them.
What kind of truck? Duramax, Powerstroke, Cummins? Got any pics? I love my Duramax and she is a beast. I am taking out Camaros, mustangs, challengers, etc. with 24.5" talls

Talk to 86notch on here I think is his name he is running a fairly low budget build 408, but his combo WORKS pulling single digits with her.

I saw those videos that car is nice. I wouldn't mind something similar to that lol. I'm actually a long time Chevy guy. I won't touch a ford other than my mustangs. I'm sure I'll get bashed for that.

This is the trans I want. I just love the idea of a 500,000 mile warranty even if I am putting 1200HP through it. 5 Speed LCT-1000 Stage VI Package - ATS Diesel

I will post some pics of my truck up later on. I like yours especially with the semi conversion. What do you pull?

I used to pull a 47' custom offshore race boat, now I pull a 36' enclosed car hauler sometimes for golf carts, or my Harleys, or the mustang. I pulled that trailer from Miami to Cancun loaded with all my household stuff (furniture, tv's, clothes, and 2 Harleys) I had 2- 12" drop down recievers and 1 - 6" drop hitch and I broke the trailer hitch 3 times on the way down, and spoke NO spanish, so getting it welded was not an easy task, all the welders and everyone here was amazed with my truck and the train horns. The funniest was the last guy drug up a pice of HUGE steel and it was a piece of train track, but he put in my translator "TOO HEAVY" and I aired up the bags and I thought he was going to freak, he ran around and got everyone around to come see the air bags.. haha ... but he welded it in across my frame and under the hitch and it made it the rest of the way with no problems and I don't think it will ever break....
I too am a chevy guy and only ford I really like is mustangs, I like the new focus' also and some ford stuff here and there but for trucks only Duramax!

Here is a nice game plan that I'm going with- Budget 418ci Windsor Engine | Popular Hot Rodding Magazine Article at Automotive.com, this combo produced 670 horse and 540 ft lbs of torque.
