my original trans has blown syncros in 2nd and third and i'm sure damaged 3rd gear.. i bought another t5, and to the original owners and my surprise, it's from either a turbo'd 4 cyl or a svo thunderbird.. it would fit, however the housing is shot (also to my and original owners surprise).. the left side bolt flange is broken off and the bearing retainer is chipped. the original bearing retainers off v8 trans's wont work cuz they have a whole shit load of diff dimensions.. but even if i could find or machine that part, the housing is broken on it.. so i'm screwed.. so two questions.. besides craigslist and ebay, is there some source where i can possibly get a reliable used cheap trans, and the second one is: has anyone had experience with this.. can i transfer the 4 cyl innards to my original housing and match up the old imput shaft? (the imput shaft is different on the 4 cyl so i can't use any bearing retainers i already own, and the 4cyl turbo and thunderbird SVO trans parts were discontinued like 15 years ago says a trans shop near me..but either way. ANYONE? i'm really in a sticky situation.. i'm low on cash too obviously.
