Car not starting

I left my house as usual going to Auto Zone then while on the road my car cuts off. Im not sure why, so i try to start her up. She fires like she wants to start, but it seems like theres something holding her back from holding on to the spark. I tried jumping the car, push starting, but had no luck. CAN ANYONE HELP ME ON THE DIAGNOSIS PLEASE!!??

It isnt putting any. Cause im thinking at least it would come on if it did rite?? Its my first Mustang so im learning with every problem. The starter engages but it just wont turn. I thought it could be the rotor in the cap, fuel filter, and or vaccum lines or something. Once before it happened so i left it on the driveway, after a few hrs she started up

what wont turn ? the starter wont turn the motor over ? Did you check spark ? you can get a spark tester at the auto parts store, or diconect the coil wire from your cap, hold it near a grounded piece of metal and have some one else try and start the car. see if you see a spark jump across to the grounded metal. becarful you dont want to zap your self. you can also Ohm out the coil. i forget what it ohm out at. if you look in a mustang car repaire book it will tell you, i cant find mine right now other wise id look it up. i checked mine about 3 months ago but for some reason im drawing a blank

okay if you want to Ohm it out..(stock coil) with ignition off disconect the wires from coil, connect a ohmmeter across the coil primary (small wier) terminal. the resistance should be 0.3 to 1.0 ohms. (if not then replace coil.) then connect ohmmeter between the negative primary terminal and the secondary terminal (the one that distributor cap wire connects to) the resistance should be 8.0 to 11.5K ohms ( if not then replace coil) If you have an after market coil you will have to go on there web page and see what there coils specs out at but the process should be the same

Check your ignition module located on your distributor too. I had a similar issue and replaced the coil twice to no luck. Got the module checked and it was toast.

Thats the plan now. Before i bought the car it was sitting for about 4 months. So im not going to drive her For next week im going to change plugs, wires, i already ordered a new TFI and i know the distributor cap too, and put a performance coil. I definitely dont want to go through this again..
