tach?


The person that converted my car to a 5.0 trashed the stock harness and i had to rewire the engine stuff my self but i cant find the wire that runs to the stock tach and i would really like it to work so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

well your best bet would be to find some wiring diagrams, ALL DATA would be most preffered,

Ur tach wire runs off of the coil. http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/

run your tach off the -negative side of the coil

i should have been more specific. i know where to hook it up on the coil its the wire in the engine bay harness i am looking for, like a connector or wirecolor/location on the main harness to the cluster.

how come you dont just leave that tach unhooked and get an aftermarket one

okay guys bare w/ me here im lookin to hook up my aftermarket tach and i just dont get it.... i probably sound like a damn blonde girl driving her rich husbands porsche but..... you say connect to the negative side of the coil. do i have to unbold the part under the steering wheel to hook up a tach, becuase something in the directions(that i dont have w/ me right now) says to hook up to the ignition + . theres 3 wires, and i know ones a ground, can someone pm me or write on here exactly how to do it, i am really the only one out of my friends thats really into cars and everyone in my family has either a nissan or toyota so they dont know much how to help me out. thanks in advance guys

should be like this

Green wire- goes to coil negative
red wire- just to a switchable 12v fuse (ie: radio fuse)
white wire- power to tach backlite bulb goes to headlight switch
Black wire- ground
