Dyno'd the 'vert
I don't have the graphs in a digital format just yet, I'll post them when I do.
Long story short, motor is all stock other than a K&N drop-in filter and an MSD coil. All fluids are synthetic (Mobil 1 5w30 in the crankcase, Redline in the tranny and diff), and it's a 5-speed car (for those too lazy to look in my garage ). Timing is stock, as I just had to take it to get smogged last week. This was done by MCE Racing at Thunderhill using a Dynojet. Not sure the exact altitude at the shop but it's no more than a couple hundred feet over sea level. Temperature was low 60s, barometric pressure was at 30.04, and humidity was at 59% 3 pulls, on the first the motor was cold, pulled a 189hp/257tq. Second was 194hp, 268tq Third backed that up with 195hp, 269 tq. All runs had the EXACT same curvature, with peak hp at ~4250 and peak torque hitting from 3k to 3500 (seriously, it's flat between there). On the last 2 runs, the motor was making at least 250 ft-lbs from ~2300 rpm all the way out to 4k. While I know they're not particularly impressive to a crowd that's used to seeing specs for built stroked motors on boost, I'm very pleased with the numbers and it's nice to have data to base proper shift points on

Hah, love the peak hp at 4250, little lower and you might as well fill it with some diesel.
Are you running a class with restrictions on engine mods? I have a friend who does autocross racing and he's in a stock class with his MR2. I went for a few laps in the passenger seat and it's amazing the force you feel around turns in a stock car and some sticky tires just on a prepped parking lot. Even though it's not a whole lot of power, it still makes for a lot of fun racing on a course with some turns on it.. Plus with that powerband, you'll have no issues putting a trailer hitch on it and towing your tires and tools to the track. |

That's about what I would expect for an essentially stock car.
I did 3 things to my 5 spd vert before putting it on a dyno, I put Flowmaster catbacks on it, bumped timing to 12 initial and ported the intake - made 219HP and 290TQ at the wheels. I'd post up the graph, but I haven't been able to get jpgs on the site for a while.

Oh, I did forget that - I do have dumped magnaflows on the car, but still have the stock exhaust from there forward. But it's also got 150k miles on the motor.
tmoss - what kind of dyno? I thought I remembered hearing something along the lines of Mustang dynos having inflated numbers over a Dynojet. Not that either was wrong or off, just that they measure things slightly differently, so the numbers weren't really comparable. The more little things I have done to the car, the more I'm thinking these numbers aren't as good as I originally did, but still good to have the actual numbers and know exactly what I'm dealing with. The shift points alone are worth what I paid for dyno time

mine was done on a dynojet after the mods I listed. Mustang dynos typically read a little lower than dynojets.
