thoughts of a 351 build.
So I've been looking up alot about the 351w and I was thinking if I where to buy a remanufactured longblock. and slap a 351 GT40 intake, with my 24 pound injectors. Do I need to swap the fuel rail to compensate for the larger lower piece? Do you think this is a good budget build?

Sounds like 10 more hp, but with the luxury of a ton more weight.

you would need a new bracket set for the accessories, new headers, new head bolts, new oil pan, new balancer, new flywheel/flexplate.
you would need to modify your fuel rails, and also get a taller hood. Still think its a good budget build for 10ish more hp? If you wanted to make some real power, you could buy the engine thats currently in my cobra. Im taking it out to build a boss blocked 302 turbo engine.

A 351 needs to breathe more than GT-40 stuff. They tried putting GT-40 parts on the old lightnings with 351s in them and they were dogs. In my opinion, if you want more cubes and you're only wanting to go 351, then just go with a 8.2 deck 347. Less weight especially in the rotating assembly for very comparable cubes. Less weight in the rotating assembly means better acceleration... If you stroke the 351 and put induction parts on it that will let it breathe, then I would say go with the 351 hands down. If not, stay with an 8.2 deck... although you aren't going to do much with a 347 and GT-40 parts either. If you're looking to upgrade, heads, cam, and intake need to be done when you do more cubes or it isn't worth it.

I guess I'll just stick with the 302. but I where to use stock parts with a forced induction. would that be worth a little more?
