Rad Overflow

I have a 1987 lx 5.0. The car has sat for two years and now that i am driving it again it is starting to push all the antifreeze out of the rad into the over flow. It seem to start roughly around the same time the thermostat would open. The rad starts to fill up and over flow, also the car starts to rev at around 1800 rpm aroungd the same time. I have changed out the thermostat but there dose not seem to be any flow through the motor. I have heard this might be a head gasket but i do not seen any coolant in the oil and the compression on each cylinder is good. I appreciate any help on this problem.

Thanks
Steve

Do a cooling system pressure check or if you don't have the tools, have someone do it. That is the first step and will probably tell you alot.

I had the same thing happen to my 93 LX and I had to replace the head gaskets and had the radiator cleaned, flushed and tested at a shop and that took care of it.
