Clutch Firewall Adjustment/Shifting Help.

So, Ill hop in my '85 GT, and occasionally, it'll be extremely difficult to put it in gear. In ANY gear. Into first gear, first to second, second to third, etc etc. I always let the car warm up for at least 2-3 minutes before I drive it anywhere. Like I said, it'll only do this occasionally. Most of the time, it shifts fine (about 8/10 times I drive it). Does anyone know what this could be related to?

Also, noob question due to this being my first Mustang, the second Ford I've ever owned, the first being a '66 Galaxie with a massively built Mustang k-code engine under the hood.. still got it, sitting in the garage, collecting dust ) ANYWAYS... the clutch firewall adjuster... where is it located on the firewall? Theres a ton of crap on the firewall. What does this adjuster do?

My clutch grabs about an inch off the floor, and makes clicking noises when my foots completely off the clutch pedal (only from 600-1500 rpm).

Any insight on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just did some research, turns out (according to this person) my clutch cable is loose because my transmission is grinding in reverse (when the car is at a stand-still). How would I properly tighten the cable? Is this done through the clutch firewall adjuster?

If your clutch grabs an inch off the floor then either your clutch stretched or out of adjustment if you have an firewall adjuster.

In the picture below the adjuster is the blue piece on the clutch cable.

There is a firewall adjuster, I turned the nylon nut counter-clockwise, didnt seem to do anything. I have it about 5-7 turns.

Thanks for the help, but I got the adjustments down. It needed to be adjusted at the pedal, badly. Gave the hook that hangs off the quadrant 2 clicks up, and it engages about half way through the pedal throw, and the clicking noises stopped. Shifts a lot better now, too.
