Super low budget 347. What's it gona run??


I say super low budget because I bought a 95 GT for $2200 that had a 347 with a spun bearing. I bought a complete intake to pan stock 95 5.0 for $500, installed it in the 95 GT and sold it for $3000. I had about $3000 in it, but sold the GT40Y heads & rockers off of the 347 for $750, the Cobra intake & TB for $450, and the C&L elbow & mass air for $150, so I've got $1350 in my pocket. I picked up a barley used set of mildly ported Vic Jr. heads & Vic Jr. carb intake for $1000($350+), Ebayed a new SCAT 9000 3.4" crank w/ King bearings for $230($120+), New set of 4340 SCAT 5.4" I beams for $220(-$120), The SRP pistons checked out perfect, as did the block, just needed a hone & balance the new rotating ass.$300(-$420).(will be aprox. 10.8:1 comp) I picked up a Anderson N91(240/248 @ .050 w/ 576/576 lift) cam & Comp hydro roller lifters for $250(-$670) Made a Summit order for new rings, timing chain, oil pump, arp oil pump shaft, arp head bolts& gasket set for $330(-$1000). The rest of the little stuff I had laying around. So I've got about $1000 in a fairly nice 347. I bought a burned up Performance Auto Super Comp C4 w/4900 stall for $600 and had my buddy refreshen it for $200. I've also got a 8.8 rear with 4.10's, rebuilt 31 spline trac lock & 31 spline axles that I've got about $300 into. I plan on putting it into a 85 4 cyl coupe($200) I've also got some nice suspension, 750 HP carb, MSD dist. MSD box,etc. off of a couple cars I've bought & sold. So I've got a total cash output of about $2100, plus I'm sure I'll have $400-$500 in misc stuff!

What's it gona run??????????? I'm going to try and make it as light as possible. Hopfully be in the 2900-3000 range w/ driver.

4900 is too high for that car, its halfway into your powerband, but I don't know what brand it is, so probably only going to stall to 4 on the foot brake but thats still high as giraffe pussy and going to agree with snatchy on the fact I have not seen a whole lot of fast cars running those heads, a guy here just did those heads with eldebrock cam and intake on an old vette and I was not impressed, need to get my car back together so I can take his money, thinks he is the fastest on the track here.

The Vic Jr's have been ported and flow 303 @.600 intake, 218 @ .600 exhaust. I haven't heard much about them either, but they were cheap, so I'm going to try them.

I have a 340 Dodge Dart bracket car that has a stock compression 340, stock iron heads that I home ported, MP 296/557 solid cam, MP single plane intake, I called Frank Lupo Dynamic for a custom converer for it and they speced out an 8" 5000 stall. I thought they were crazy, but its been the best investment I've ever made for that car!
