well for some help i have 475 rwhp and my box is set with the 6k pill.i could go higher but the safe way is usually the best way.take the car out and hammer it. find an approximate rpm where it stops "pullin" and thats where i would put it, anything over that is just slowin you down. its probably right around 5500 depending on mods(cam, intake, heads, etc.)

Some info about your car would help us to better help you. If its stock heads/cam/intake then I doubt the car is making power much beyond 5k. If you have upgraded all the previous stuff I mentioned then it could be 5700 or 5800 or even 6000. As already said you don't want to rev past where your car stops making power because its just slowing you down.

Unless you have a Programmable Management System or a rpm extender the factory computer will kick the rev limiter in I think at 6250rpm.. So no matter what chip you put in the MSD the computer will override it.. Unless you put a 6k in it...

I would put the 6k pill in it for now and go get it dynoed. Find out where it stops making power and then change it. With that setup is not making power over 6k for sure so you will be safe at 6k.

Well its not for sure to say that he will be safe at 6k. If the car stops makin power at say 5500 then if for example the power drop is due to the valves floating. If he revs it to 6k all the time there could be an issue with some valvtrain breakage.. I would put the 5.5k in it until you get it tuned then bring a 6k and a 6.5k and see what one you need.

I would hope he doesn't have valve float at 5500, even a stock 5.0 factory limiter is 6250 yet I wouldn't recommend revving that hight but yes if you do then to be extra safe 5500 would be better yet. You really need to find out where it stops making power is the bottom line.

Yeah if you have stock heads.. I dont know what you have just tryin to keep you on the safe side until you get it tuned... But yeah you are right about the 6250rpm limiter on a stock injected motor. Even though that motor stops making power way before that..
