lookin to buy a 5.0
I've found one locally, issue is, he says it has a 24# MAF and 19# stock injectors. he says all it needs is a stock MAF to run right. also it "may" be a 347 stroker he doesnt know. he said his brother would bore-scope it through cyl. heads and look at the pistons.... but IMO your not gonna be able to tell without looking at the bottom end and measuring the stroke and bore. hes asking 3800. it has 147k on it.

If dude doesn't even know if its a 347 or not, how the hell does he know it only needs a MAF to be running right or what the condition of the engine is and why didn't he get the right MAF himself? I'd stay clear unless you can personally verify what you feel comfortable with yourself. There is always a chance for a diamond in the rough but could be crap in that rough to.

yeah that sounds a little iffy, you would think that the owner of the car would know what he has, sounds like he doesnt so like nolife said, if you cant verify it yourself i wouldnt take that chance.. 3800 seems a lil out there for something that you cant get a definant answer on what it is, and on top of that it dont run right.. i mean if he dont know what the motor is, he probably is just taking a shot in the dark with MAF as well.. just IMO. good luck

i'll take a look at this car, see how it runs. what should I look for? 1) i'm going to pull a plug to see how the cars been running 2) what does a 24# MAF look like? and what color are the stock injectors? tan? I found a really nice car but its just too far away for me to grab. and moving it is just out of my budget.

I'm thinking it's probably a .30 over 306. Sometimes an overbore can be embellished to stroker motor if they're not sure what they are talking about. What kind of heads? I doubt someone would run stock heads with a 347, and stock 19# injectors are orange. An aftermarker MAF that is calibrated to run 24# injectors will say so somewhere on the outside of the housing, while a factory MAF for 24# injectors will not say. I think some lightnings and maybe some cobras used factory 24# mafs. If it has orange injectors, get a stock 19# mustang maf, and it should run better. If it really is a 347, stock injectors and other stock components will not work right. What's up with the cylinder heads, cam, and intake? You know, the important stuff?

You should keep looking. I drove 25 hours one day to go look at one to find out it was junk. 6 months later I got a great deal cause one turned up a block away. You gotta be patient and not get pressured in just cause it seems cool. Its cool till you find out nothing works right then your screwed.

well its a very clean car, he does seem certain on the maf being wrong, he knows engine was rebuilt but doesnt know whats in it. Its gotta be a 306 and he just doesnt know the difference between a 306 and stroker. if this car runs good what do i have to lose? i'll be able to tell if its got leaks blow by detonation. its not advertised as a stroker and thats not why im buying it i could care less either way but i need 2 know whats in it one way or another
