Sooo I have decided...

I am either going to going to with a Holley Systemax intake once funds become available on my 95 Gt. I have tons of questions though regarding the intake kit. What will I need to have it bolt up onto a 95 since its for the Fox Body's? What heads and cam would you recommend to go with this combo? Plans for my car are to just keep it a summer car street/strip (mostly street) I plan to do the usual bolt ons (CAI, exhaust, midpipe headers, etc). I don't really have a HP goal, but how much can I expect with a good cam and head swap? I guess the real question is, will a stock 302 be able to handle that kind of HP?

you said "you have decided" then you ask a bunch of questions?

hrm.

trickflow twisted wedge heads, trickflow stage 1 cam, and the holly intake would be a good combo for "street driving". Then again I wouldn't be afraid of a "bigger" cam ether. doesn't really hurt you with street driving. probably make 300-310rwhp (with supporting mods) for the combo I listed.

But like I have been saying a lot lately. If I could do it all over again, I would have just slapped a procharger or a On3Performance turbo kit on the car, for about the same cost of the head/cam swap, and you would be making MUCH MUCH more power.

For the cost of a systemax get pheads, valve springs, explorer intake and save 2000 for a turbo.

lol yeah guess I am kind of contradicting myself there. I asked the questions, because I want a good head and cam combo to go with it. I've been reading that the Holley heads and cam are a little weak, so I probably won't buy the kit and wondering whats a good head, cam combo is to match up wit the Holley. I don't really plan on adding any FI. So since the Holley intake is designed for the Fox all I need is the elbow adapter and it should match right up right?

Yes... elbow adapter. I'm happy so far with my TF Stage II cam, as far as out of the box cams go, but I have way different heads, and my combo is kinda temporary, so I won't go custom. If you do a TF 170 or better head, I think you will like the cam. I have yet to get it tuned and didn't drive it much so far with the cam, but I like it. If you go with a different set of heads, that cam might be totally wrong for the car. You should always pick the cam last, so if you are going to be rocking whatever combo you end up with for at least, in my opinion, a year or more... you may want to consider a custom cam from somewhere that knows what they are doing. A buddy of mine likes Bullet cams, and they don't have the really long waiting period like some others. Just an option for ya.

Nothing is wrong with FI, I just don't plan on going that route personally. Unfortunately if I go this route, I'm afraid I am going to want more out of the car later even if I put a good combo together. Thanks for advice LX. Ideally I would just like to put the h/c/i intake combo together with the bolt ons and call it good and have it be my dd in the summer and find another mustang to build and use some FI, so maybe a custom cam is the way to go.

Power adders aren't always for everyone. Some people like the simplicity of a h/c/i and bolton's and call it a day. Plus, when it comes to FI, it's easy to get greedy and up the boost which can then start throwing your driveability and/or longevity out the window if you haven't set everything up right.

systemax 2 is tops in long runner intakes but it will cost you some low end torque so make sure your car isn't rocking stock ring/pinion ratio or you'll feel it.. but the systemax gives it back on the big end.

I'd say if you want the most out of what ever heads/cam combo you go with a custom cam. have whoever is grinding your cam suggest which heads/cam to go with based on all the info you provide him.. provide him with everything ie the goals of the car, the weight of the car etc.
