Engine whine

Ive noticed on my 87 5.0 when I rev the engine it more or less whines, and drones out the sweet exhuast. I thought it may have been the belts, but they look ok. Any ideas?

well i think the clutch was changed out to a centerforce, but would that effect the sound when revving it? The car is in neutral, and im not driving it when it makes that sound.

You sure its not the alternator thats making the noise. Some of them are pretty damn loud and whiny sounding.
