302/351 blocks


which of the 302/351 blocks are safe to what HP?

friend has a 347 eagle "high nickel" block...pretty sure i would rather do 408w anyway(which block do i need to grab for this)

i think the stock blocks are good to ~500

not too too sure

but i believe reading darrel sayin something like that

and u need a 351 for the 408 stroker

Earlier blocks (302 and 351W) are stronger than newer blocks. How much they can handle really depends on alot of variables.

You may be referring to the possibility of a mexican cast block. Basically the idea that the metallurgy was all that different is a myth. The real difference is the poor investment casting manufacturing ability the mexican manufacturer had. Basically the cast had to be made slightly bigger to make up for the poor casts so the block was SLIGHTLY heavier than a stateside block. I am not sure if this is what you are referring to with high nickel, but if it has Ford stamped on it, the metallurgy is pretty much the same.

No its not. Mexican blocks had beefier main caps and a verified higher nickle content. Facts is facts.
