chevy skip shift


i no its the wrong site but dont understand what the 1st to 4th gear skip shift in the camaro ss and f bodies or whtever. i dont understand how it would skip and b a manual transmission

There is a gate in the shifting mechanism that does it. I believe it is RPM related and is set up this way for warranty reasons. There are companies that make a fix for this issue.

Pretty much. If I remember right it is based on throttle. Anything less than 50% throttle (but I'm not entirely sure, both my cars had them removed before I even bought them) It is a pain in the ass though! I believe the main reason was to improve gas milleage in town.

But yeah, for a couple for a couple of bucks you can get a 'skip-shift eliminator' so it is one of the first things that f-body guys do.

Forget that, go to radioshack and buy a 2.2 k ohm resistor, pull the connector off the skip shift solenoid, and insert resistor and tape up. This is detailed at installuniversity.com . Why pay $30 or more for something that could cost $0.50 ? Mine has been done for a year and no problems.
