Rear window 'vert question

Is it necessary to unzip the rear window on my 1991 convertible. With it unzipped, it rests on the pump with only thin material keeping it from shattering. And it is difficult to zip the window back into place.

why would it be necessary?!

the reason it un-zips is so you can put the windows down and let the air come in and out of the car easy.

I have never, not once, unzipped the rear window section on my top. kinda useless to me.

Ok. Thanks. I was just wondering if it was necessary so that the top would not bind up.

no its not.

a old trick most 'vert owners dont know is if you help the top out going down, it will sit down more flush.

where the frame of the top bents for the first time, front to back, you can fold the fabric over a little, when it first starts folding, which allows the top to sit more flush.

its kinda hard to describe, but if you watch the top go down a few times you will see what I mean. try it out!

So, like, uncrease the top to where the creases are actually nice folds as the top is collapsing to its lowest position....I tried it , and you are right. Thankx for the tip.

no problem, some one else taught it to me and I didn't think it would work, but sure enough it does, folds down much tighter.

I now do it every time I put the top down.

I zipped one down once when I was going somewhere and it was hot, but my A/C didn't work and I didn't want fucked up hair. It's really pointless.

I had a 91, I didn't even remember it having a zipper. I put on a new top on that one too, and still don't remember a zipper. Guess I wasn't paying too much attention. I wish the guys who stole my radio would have just unzipped the window instead of cutting the top. Would have saved me from having to replace the top.
