if you ever do any kind of real engine work to your car, you wil quickly begin to dislike the loudmouths

My son's 97 Cobra had SLP Loudmouth on it when he bought it. He got sick of the loud exhaust in about a week. We put a DynoMax Super Turbo cat back on, and it stil on the car today. Much more drivable without the exhaust barking at you every time you touch the gas! IMO.

why do you say that? and i want it to be loud, right now im running a bassani o/r x pipe to mac mufflers it sounds pretty good but i want it louder. My one friend with a Mach 1 is running straight pipes and i think he has a pro chamber on it..but sounds nice and loud and has a good tone to it and do they make mufflers or just resonators? whats the difference?

If you ever put cylinder heads on the car that bump up compression, your exhaust note will be louder and more aggressive. I have flowmaster 40's on my car, and after the cylinder head swap (only running 9.5:1 compression) the car got much louder...With flowmasters!!! I can only imagine how shitty loudmouths would sound with motor work...And I know some people don't like flows, but that's what came with the car and I like them. Just my .02

I have them on my 2008 GT and love them except when it's winter out and I start up the car and take off. They back fire for a few minutes if you let off the gas while the pipes are still cold. I was out at Sema and talked to the sales rep and since the mufflers for the s197's are just empty pipe there's no way to silence this. They are loud as hell though I'm basically just running open exhaust now except for the Cat Back

My 02 has them, different sound than the 5.0 but close. To each his own and it is just an opinion but I think the tone of them just sucks on any Mustang. It's funny when a car makes a lot of noise and is not going anywhere, when you are making some decent power, the SLP make why too much noise. I'm surprised they don't come with 4 inch chrome tips and a huge sticker for the fender
If there is any positive to them, they don't make much noise in the car, still look almost new after a few years and they don't drone at 2k like the flowmasters.

the SLP's sound ok-ish when the engine is stock (try to remember, im speaking from experience here)

But once you open the engine up and start adding some air flow, they really get to sounding like shit...

vids to follow

Stock engined, SLP LM1's, BBK O/R X-pipe, BBK Shorties

SLP LM1's, Flowtech O/R H, Flowtech LT's

S6300212.mp4 video by AdderMk2 - Photobucket

after I got sick and tired of the shitty sound I had after installing my quality, high power engine...I decided to get some GOOD mufflers, and this is what I ended up with.

SLP Powerflo's, Mac Prochamber, Mac Long tubes

yep, the loudmouths sounded like shit... Im very happy with what I have now.

Id never put LM's on a 5.0. I had them on my 4.6 2003. But id never ever put them on my Fox.

Mac pro dumps sound awesome, loud mouths will sound like shit with any type of modding. No tone what so ever, all they are is straight through tubes (resinators after all)
