Buy the rebuild kit too with all the bearing and shims etc. It is about $70. I have heard of installation being $200-$400...Call a few more places if they are around. This isnt something i would want to experiment with. I have been told don't do if you haven't done it before but how would you ever learn...
If you don't mind experimenting, then go for it. I am sure somebody will chime in here and some specific info...I was just saying that you need a rebuild kit and look for a cheaper price. Good luck!

Thats not really a job for the inexperienced. You can screw it up in too many ways and do some costly damage. Pay the professionals and save money in the long run.

Yeah I agree this is not a job you want to "experiment" with. If you dont mesh the gears just right or you mess up the backlash you will have some serious problems.. Spend the money and get it done....

Its not that hard to do cause when I switch my 86 to 4:10's I thought it was hard but it was a fairly easy, and I never had any experience with gears but I took a chance and everything turned out great. If ya wanna do it urself just get a haynes manuel and it will give u step by step directions on taking them out and apart and putting them back together and in. So good luck with watever u choose!

to each his own opinion! a lot depends on your mechanical abilities and understanding of mechanics. There are people highly mechanically inclined and can knock out a task like this without a prob. while others coiuld be devastated at the task and wind up taking parts to someone to fix
