Since we had a heat wave today

I was able to go out in the shop and do something! It got to 37 degrees! In my quest to make my engine actually look decent, and my severe boredom, I decided to polish the powdercoating on my headers. Now my boredom has led me inside to share this with you

It's very time consuming, and I still have a ton of work to do on them, but they're coming along. I'm actually surprised as to how much they are shining up.

They've been on and off, and "massaged" so much, they're pretty dulled and scratched. I can't buff the scratches out of the coating like I can paint, so the goal is to shine the finish up a bit.

Here is how bad they looked to begin with.

Here is a piece I had polished on a little up against an untouched piece.

Some progress as I started getting some shine in them.

Yea it's cold down here. I'm in Houston right now for work and when I flew in on thrus, it was in the friggen 20's. I didn't even know it got that cold down in this area.. It did make it to close to 60 here today though... hell of a lot better than the single digits and over a foot of snow back home.

If I didn't blow up my truck and have to buy a new one, I'd be living in fl right now. That new truck was my moving van funds, lol. Now I'm stuck back in shitty buffalo for a while.

I was in Tucson week before last for my yearly Learjet school......

It was awesome! Since I've been back home, we've been having single digit highs, and got 14" of snow last week.

Do they even have snowplows in Oklahoma? lol

I got a phone call yesterday from my hotel informing me that a lot of their staff weren't able to make it in to work today, so room service might be a little slow. I looked outside and there wasn't one snowflake on the ground.. maybe most Texas drives diesels and makes their own biodiesel?

Not many. Thats why everything shuts down around here for weather like this. We don't have the equipment to deal with it. It sucks.

Thanks. Yeah, 1 3/4" headers in a classic, with a 4 speed never fit. That's where the stupid Z bar has to clear, and what sucks now, is the Z bar will be gone because I got a hydraulic T/O bearing. Oh well.......I called Hooker about them not fitting, and they said you could smash a tube halfway down before it affects airflow . I don't know how true that is, but I didn't really have a choice.

I know. I'd really like to have some 2", and now that the Z bar is gone, I may have some custom made for it, but those are the biggest OTS headers you can buy for it.

Everything I own is for sale or rent

That's what my car will likely end up with. 2" to 3.5". Fuck, I just don't want to listen to that loud SOB.

They look great. You say they're powder coated? How does that hold up to the heat? I haven't tried it on automotive headers, but I had to go to ceramic coating my ATV headers to handle the heat (on non-stainless headers of course). I did this one and it turned out good; it's been to heck and back and it still polishes up nicely. And then this one is JetHot coated. It works really well against the heat too, but I didn't try polishing it; it never got rode enough to get it dirty.
