91GT knocking noise under Valvecovers

my 5.0 has been making a knocking noise under the driverside valve covers. Its equiped with an E-cam and some people told me it may be my lifters. I bought a new set of lifters and put them in but the knocking is still there.
Anyone know how I can find my problem?

Post a video. Engine could have blown. Maybe a rod knock. No way of telling if we can't hear it.

9 times out of 10 its a loose rocker. Pull it off it only takes less than 30 mins to pull and check and its something u can do yourself.

Broken springs, wore out lifters, bent pushrods, cracked or broken rocker arms, etc. Do you know if the springs were changed when the cam was put in? If not, now would be a good time to put the correct valve springs in.

Mine did the same noise, i checked it numerous time. My top end was good, it was my bottom end. #3 main spun, and #4&8 rod spun and that was my terrible knock. Oil pressure will vary or drop completely!

I put in new lifters in already yesterday but the knocking is still there. The pushrods didn't seem to be bent or damaged and I torqued the rockers to their specs and the springs haven't been changed.
Thanks for the feedback guys greatly appreciate it

Now Im thinking, I could get new rockers and springs for these heads or should I go and get some GT40 heads and slap them on??

I wouldnt worry about WHAT heads you have right now. Diagnose the knock. Pay attention to your oil pressure gauge. Mine got weak and on occasion would build then finally the knock go so bad it dropped to 0. I had the vcovers off i know eight times in 1 day and half. I was ready to go to the end of my driveway pull out on the road and set it on the limiter and scatter parts. Finally i got idea to pull it, tore it down and found the trouble.

I will describe how mine started til i had to shut it down. Car developed a slight tick after i got the car. I run the car hard, running it into the rev limiter on occasion. The tick got worse, then i put stp in it. Quietened down some, oil pressure stayed low. Tick stayed away for about a day, then come back. I got on the car hard and that did it in. I was at school when it was hammering so bad, sounded like someone used a hammer on the valve covers. It was really bad. After school that night i was disqusted with the car and ready to let the bottom end see the real world. I didnt though, babied it home. Thast when i pulled it down. Im not saying pull the motor, use ur on decision. Like the other guys have said it can be a number of things.

the heads havent been changed.
So should I check the rockers to see if they're damaged or something?
My cluster is reading that I have oil pressure.

if your rockers are still sittin tight on the pushrods then thats probably not it (probably), i cant think of anyway it would knock without the rockers having to be off the pushrods. at least for inside the valve cover.

if u can deal with the cleanup, maybe run the car without the valve covers. when i did it last didnt lose TOO much oil at idle, but if u hit the gas ur gonna see some oil fountains....was on a chevy 350 tho...
